Are you moving to Roswell GA or considering it? Most of the Instagram videos about life in Roswell GA tend to feature cute coffee shops or fun things to do. While that is a huge part of what makes this place so great, I’m here to cover the less “romantic” side of things.Here are 3 mundane-but-actually-useful things for someone moving to Roswell: 1. TRAFFIC GA-400 is your life now — learn its rhythms. There is major construction starting on GA-400 which will greatly help the area, but know how that is going to impact you. Northbound on Friday afternoons and southbound Monday mornings are brutal. Locals know to shift their commute by 30–45 minutes or take Holcomb Bridge to Peachtree Industrial as a pressure valve. Locals also know to have 2 more routes to get where they are going … Hwy 9, GA 140, GA 120… are just a few and they can save you time. 2. TRASH Not a sexy topic , but one you will thank me for later .. Trash and recycling pickup is stricter than you think. Roswell’s curbside recycling program has specific rules — no plastic bags in the bin, lids off bottles, no greasy pizza boxes. New residents coming from cities with more forgiving programs get their bins tagged or skipped. It’s a small thing that causes real first-week frustration. And if you leave too much yard waste or big limbs that should be been cut up, expect to find it there when you get home and a welcome tag. 😊 3. ACCESS Now the good news .. Everything closes earlier than you expect. Roswell has a charming, walkable Downtown on Canton Street — but this is still suburban Georgia. Most restaurants close by 9 or 10pm on weekdays, and even popular spots don’t take late reservations. If you’re used to NYC, Chicago, or DC hours, recalibrate now. Plan dinner for 6:30, not 8. These hit the “mundane but I wish someone told me” sweet spot — practical, specific, and the kind of thing that builds real trust with a relocating audience. This is as close to true urban walkability as North Atlanta gets — and inventory here is tight for a reason. Price point: mid $700s to $1.5M+. 2. The Avalon Area (Midwick / Chelsea Walk) Yes, Avalon has its own residential side and what a great place — and it’s one of the most in-demand corridors in all of North Atlanta luxury. You’re walking to Whole Foods, chef-driven restaurants, boutique retail, and a packed events calendar. Fresh pastries from @douceur_de_france_ in Downtown Roswell has absolutely ruined me. Nothing else compares. 02. Weekend bike rides or walks along Riverside Drive , along the Chattachoochee River. Every other stroll feels like a downgrade. 03. Meeting friends @deeprootswinemkt for mahjong or a wine tasting…. Or just meeting friends f 04. What “close to downtown” actually means in Roswell versus other places. 05. Running errands in Downtown Roswell where everything is five minutes away. 06. Homes with character in Roswell, GA from Thomas Circle to Alpharetta. My standards are permanently altered. 07. Access to Roswell Park and the Greenway and the Alpha Loop in North Fulton.
